Town Insights

Finding a town in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire that fits you and your lifestyle is just as important as finding the home of your dreams. Each community is a little different from the next and each offers its own blend of attributes that make New England the way it is.

I have tried to present information on each of these towns that might give you some insight into their character, or maybe lack thereof, and some of the things that they have to offer you as a vacationer or perhaps as a full time resident. Who founded it, when it was established, or its history doesn’t matter that much here unless it is something amusing. But if you want the history and other demographic details, I have provided links to the town website and profile pages provided by the good old State of New Hampshire for you to refer to. If you are looking for local school information be sure to vistit www.greatschools.net for some great info and insights into each community's school system.

I have also instituted my own rating system for key components of what you might be looking for in a town. Those are: the affordability of a home in that town, how much they take out of your pockets every year for taxes, how laid back I think the community is, how far out in the boonies the town is (that is all relative you know), and how big a boating community it is (which a lot of buyers feel is a pretty big deal). Anyway, the first two items are based on actual facts that I can verify and the last three are just my unsolicited opinions. It’s my website and therefore I get to do what I want! I’d be happy to have you ride around and verify or dispute these opinions anytime you decide you want to go house hunting with me.

Yup, those funny looking things are sticks. The number of sticks represent how far off the beaten path I think the town is. It is all relative you know…
