Loon Mountain

Although Loon is a little out of the Lakes Region, I had to include it because it was one of my favorite places to ski with the kids. Loon is a little further up the Interstate at Exit 32  at the beginning of the Kancamagus Highway in Lincoln, N.H. It has a vertical drop of 2,100 feet, with 45 trails on 275 acres. The longest run is 2.5 miles. You will find 10 lifts including the famous gondola, two quads, three triples, and a double providing a capacity of almost 12,000 skiers per hour. Snowmaking covers 96% of the trails and with an average annual snowfall of 128” you will find plenty of snow.

You will find the usual array of snowboarding parks and pipes along with rentals, shops, and restaurants to keep you fitted and fed. Loon feels like a true resort get-a-way because it is. There is a wide range of accommodations both trail side and in the quaint villages of Lincoln and North Woodstock just down the road. If you like to ski, you’ll like loon.
