Canterbury is another one of those sleepy little towns that you can easily fall in love with. The town is situated right off Rt 93 just above Concord and is often overlooked by those speeding up the interstate to get to the lakes or the mountains. It is a great town to live in! The town character is very rural and laid back. You will find miles and miles of well maintained dirt roads with historic old homes and farms along the way. There isn't much in the way of stores in town other than a country store in the town center and one out by the highway. You'll have to scoot down the highway to do your main shopping or to go out to eat.
One pretty cool point of interest you can check out if you are out touring the stunning beauty of this community is to check out the Canterbury Shaker Village on, you guessed it, Shaker Road. You must have heard of Shaker furniture, right? The Shaker Village was first established in 1792, and was a self-contained community of the United Society of Believers. They were also known as the Shaking Quakers, or Shakers, because of their use of dance in worship not they ate oatmeal. Today, the Village is a museum and restaurant that will take you back to a time gone by. Well worth a visit.
