Barnstead is a very rural community located off Rt 28 between Concord and Alton. It is made up of several villages or areas: Barnstead Parade, Center Barnstead, South Barnstead, and North Barnstead. Mostly residential in nature, it is a bedroom community for larger towns to the south.

There are several lakes of interest that provide great vacation and second home opportunities at relatively affordable prices compared to the larger lakes to the north; Locke Lake, Half Moon, and the Suncook Lakes. I really like Upper Suncook Lake, which I think is one of those hidden gems in the Lakes Region. Unspoiled and quiet, Suncook Lake is the perfect lake to take a cruise on in a small bow-rider and perhaps do some fishing. There is a boys' camp on the northern end which has kept that end of the lake from being developed.

Easily accessible from points south, Barnstead could be a great place for you to vacation or call home in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire!
